"A paradoxical dance of structure and freedom — a tension between rigidity and fluidity — always in motion, bending, evolving — shaping and reshaping itself — tracing paths of tradition while soaring into colourful realms of expression. Here, tones of classical ground entwine with bold and adventurous hues in a debate between anticipation and surprise, drawing on the canvas of silence.
Kevin Pfister takes the listener on a journey between worlds to explore the delicate dance between classical elements and influences of luminaries like Fred Hersch, Bill Evans and Kenny Wheeler. His classical origins followed by his studies at the University of Music Würzburg and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam formed a unique and innovative artistry of jazz and classical piano, composition and arrangement.
His debut album “Form” emerged as a reflection of a four-year quest for authenticity and expression, weaving various ideas and impressions of his surroundings into memorable melodies with refined and colourful harmonies. With six original compositions and his interpretation of “Subconscious-Lee” by Lee Konitz, Kevin Pfister embarks on a solo piano exploration, challenging traditional confines and searching for the contours of musical form."
